(INCHEON, KOREA SELATAN) Ketua International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Hyun Sook Yoon mengatakan, para wanita di dunia, yang tergabung dalam IWPG akan terus mengawal agar Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) yaitu Deklarasi Perdamaian dan Penghentian Perang, segera diwujudkan menjadi sebuah undang-undang (UU) di Perserikatan Bangsa Bangsa (PBB).
“Peran perempuan sangat penting dalam mewujudkan perdamaian. Para wanita memiliki keunggulan tersendiri untuk mengatasi konflik. Para wanita mampu menyerukan pembentukan sistem perdamaian dunia dengan cara yang menarik,” ujar Hyun Sook Yoon pada konferensi pers World Peace Summit Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) atau Budaya Sorgawi, Perdamaian Dunia, Pemulihan Terang, di Incheon, Korea Selatan, Senin (18/9/2023).
Pada kesempatan itu, hadir Ketua HWPL, Man Hee Lee dan General Director International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) Young Min Chung. Seperti diketahui, Peringatan 9 tahun pembentukan HWPL World Peace Summit, berlangsung selama 4 hari, dihadiri 1.800 peserta dari seluruh dunia.
IWPG Chairwoman Hyun Sook Yoon: Women of the World Continue to Oversee DPCW to Soon Become Law at the UN
(INCHEON, SOUTH KOREA) Chairwoman of the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Hyun Sook Yoon said that women in the world, who are members of the IWPG, will continue to oversee the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) immediately turned into a law at the United Nations (UN).
“The role of women is very important in realizing peace. Women have their own advantages in resolving conflict. “Women are able to call for the establishment of a world peace system in an interesting way,” said Hyun Sook Yoon at the World Peace Summit press conference Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) in Incheon, Korea South, Monday (18/9/2023).
On that occasion, the Chairman of HWPL, Man Hee Lee and General Director of the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) Young Min Chung were present. As is known, the 9th anniversary of the formation of the HWPL World Peace Summit, lasted for 4 days, attended by 1,800 participants from all over the world.
Furthermore, the top leader of IWPG said that IWPG’s vision and mission is to protect precious life and pass it on to future generations with a mother’s heart. “So, all mothers in the world support the UN to immediately make the DPCW a law that must be obeyed by all countries and all people. “This means that the DPCW will become a legally binding international policy and law,” he said.
If this is realized, IWPG will monitor whether this declaration is implemented in each country. “If women move independently, the realization of DPCW will take a long time. However, world peace through DPCW can be achieved more quickly if all women in the world work together,” he said.
The DPCW was declared on March 14, 2000, after three rounds of extensive and thorough discussions. DPCW was born to complement pre-existing international law, which still provided opportunities for war. DPCW, which consists of 10 articles and 38 clauses, contains anti-war clauses that block war from occurring, so that it does not happen at all.
According to Hyun Sook Yoon, one of IWPG’s core projects is a culture of peace in the global village. “We will continue to strive to eliminate discrimination, conflict and war, which are still rampant today,” he said.
It is said that IWPG carries out various ways to instill peace in the hearts of people, from children, teenagers, adults to the elderly. One of them is holding a drawing competition for children in various countries, with a peace theme. In 2023, 10,000 children will participate. The aim is that from an early age the spirit of peace will be embedded in the hearts of children.
Apart from that, IWPG provides free peace lecturer training education for women, so that they can teach peace to many people.
“In addition to a legal system that supports peace, a rapid global movement is needed to spread the culture of love of peace and stop war once and for all in this world.” he said.
In its movement to realize world peace, IWPG has 4 main strengths, the strength that protects lives, the strength that restores peace, the strength that awakens women, and the strength that moves hearts. (Nr)
