Chairman BRISD Qaiser Nawab Calls on Chinese Embassy Leadership in Lisbon, Discusses Belt and Road Initiative and Shared Development

LISBON, PORTUGAL — September 2026: Chairman of the Belt and Road Initiative for Sustainable Development (BRISD), Engr. Qaiser Nawab, paid a call on Mr. Hu Bin, Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Portugal, at the Chinese Embassy in Lisbon.

The meeting was attended by other diplomats and officials of the Embassy, including the Political Attaché, and focused on the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), international cooperation, sustainable development, youth engagement, and opportunities for stronger people-to-people connectivity.

During the meeting, Mr. Hu Bin conveyed the best wishes and regards of the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Portugal to Chairman Qaiser Nawab, while appreciating his continued efforts to promote dialogue and understanding around the Belt and Road Initiative and its vision of shared development.

Chairman Qaiser Nawab highlighted the importance of the Belt and Road Initiative as a platform for promoting connectivity, economic cooperation, sustainable development, cultural exchange and a shared future for humanity. He appreciated the long-term vision of the BRI and its emphasis on building partnerships based on mutual benefit, cooperation and shared development.

Mr. Nawab also briefed the Chinese diplomatic team on his continued efforts through BRISD to promote greater understanding of the Belt and Road Initiative and to facilitate dialogue among youth leaders, policymakers, academia, civil society and international stakeholders across different regions.

The Chinese diplomatic team appreciated Chairman Qaiser Nawab’s longstanding efforts to promote the Belt and Road Initiative and recognized the importance of engaging young people in discussions on sustainable development, international cooperation and global connectivity.

The meeting also explored opportunities for further cooperation and engagement with relevant institutions and stakeholders in Europe and beyond, particularly in youth diplomacy, sustainable development, education, innovation and people-to-people exchanges.

Chairman Qaiser Nawab expressed his gratitude to Mr. Hu Bin and the Embassy of China in Portugal for the warm reception and valuable exchange. He also conveyed his appreciation for the Ambassador’s kind message and reaffirmed BRISD’s commitment to contributing to constructive international dialogue on the Belt and Road Initiative and its vision of a community with a shared future for humanity.
